Mission Statement  

In accordance with Canon 486 of the Code of Canon Law, the mission of the Archives is to collect, preserve and make available for research the official records of the Diocese and those ancillary records which reflect the work of the Church within the Diocese.

The Diocesan Archives seeks to promote an understanding of the origins, aims and goals of the Diocese as reflected in the workings of the official Diocesan offices, agencies, and institutions.

The Diocesan Archives also seeks to collect, preserve and make available for research those records of individuals and organizations engaged in work which is reflective of the work of the Catholic Church in the Diocese.

If you are looking for your sacramental records, please contact the parish where you were baptized. An alphabetical listing of parishes in the Diocese of Madison and their contact information can be found at http://www.madisondiocese.org/Parishes/ParishLocations.aspx. A list of closed and merged parishes can be found here.

If you are seeking genealogical research, contact the Archives Office as all sacramental records for the Diocese of Madison are maintained and stored at the respective parishes.

If you are seeking information on an aspect of the history of the Diocese of Madison you can contact the Archives Office by use of the General Request Form.
