Bishop's Directives

In October, 2007, after a bottom-up process that lasted years and involved nearly a thousand people from throughout the diocese, including parishioners, priests, commissions, and staff, Bishop Morlino issued directives for all of the parishes in the Diocese of Madison.

Cluster implementation committees and a diocesan Implementation Commission were formed to address the implementation of these directives. Their work can be seen on the Cluster Implementation Plan page. There are two types of directives:

General Directives - These directives apply to all parishes of the Diocese of Madison, in every cluster. They are listed below.

Cluster Directives - These directives apply to a specific cluster and all the parishes that belong to that cluster. They can be found here: Bishop's Directives.

GENERAL DIRECTIVES FOR ALL CLUSTERS AND PARISHES

Pray and do all you can to increase vocations to ordained, consecrated life, and lay ministry.
All parishes will work toward the implementation of the Catholic Schools plan so that all parishes of the diocese directly contribute financially to the support of all Catholic Schools.
Each Cluster must implement a Cluster Planning & Implementation Team (CPIT) having representation from each parish to engage staffs and pastoral councils in developing regular pastoral plans for the cluster and to ensure regular communication to parishioners and to the Diocese.
Support the implementation of ParishSOFT in all parishes of the Diocese.
Support the implementation of Quickbooks in all parishes of the Diocese.
Support the implementation of a single diocesan-wide school information system in all schools of the Diocese.
Each Cluster must implement or be part of an Enrollment Management and Development team (EMDT).
1. Clusters with one or more Catholic schools should create a single EMDT for all the schools in the cluster to address the specific issues of marketing the school(s) and increasing enrollment at the school(s).
2. Each Cluster without a Catholic school should ensure that the Cluster has representation on the EMDT of a neighboring Cluster.
3. The EMDT should be representative of all parishes in the Cluster, as well as any neighboring clusters without Catholic schools.
  1. In clusters with multiple schools, the team should have representation from the education commission of each school.
  2. In clusters with a single school, the team should have representation from each parish and would report to a joint education commission. If a joint education commission for the cluster does not exist, then the EMDT would report to the education commission at the parish with the school.
