The Diocese of Madison (Wisconsin) often has a number of openings for parish directors/coordinators of religious education and youth ministry. Many of these are full time positions.
While the specific job description will vary, all of these positions involve the creation and implementation of programming and events which provide opportunities for parishioners to know, love and serve Jesus Christ through active participation in the life of the Catholic Church.
- Knowing – Parishioners should be given solid, age-appropriate opportunities and encouragement to grow in their knowledge of God and his teachings as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Effort should be made to provide teaching that is systematic, complete, and faithful.
- Loving – Parishioners should be given solid opportunities and encouragement to grow ever closer to God through active participation in the sacramental life of the Church, a personal prayer life, time spent with Scripture, and times of reflection and retreat.
- Serving – Parishioners should be given solid opportunities and encouragement to serve the Lord and those around them through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
Applicants must have a solid working knowledge of Catholic theology, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to initiate, create, implement and maintain long-term projects. Applicants must profess and follow the teachings of the Catholic Church, seek an ever-deeper transformation to Christ in their own life, and possess appropriate professional training or related experience in the areas of Catholic theology and ministry.
