On June 23, 2008, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops received the recognitio from the Holy See for the newly translated Order of Mass. This is the first of numerous texts which will form the new Roman Missal, which is set for completion sometime in 2010. The text of the Order of Mass and other catechetical materials are available here thanks to the U. S. Bishops Committee on Divine Worship.

While the texts have received the recognitio of the Holy See, they are not approved for liturgical use in the United States and should not be used in the celebration of the Mass at this time.

There will be many things written on the internet, in blogs, and in popular journals regarding the forthcoming Third Edition of the Roman Missal. The U. S. Bishops Committee on Divine Worship has requested that we remind the people of our Diocese that their website will contain authoritative material that has been reviewed by the Bishop members of the Committee. Material on other websites and news outlets may or may not be authoritative or correct.
