Every week the Catholic Herald features the "Events Calendar" that includes upcoming events in parishes and Catholic organizations throughout the diocese. This week the Catholic Herald also features a special guide to summer vacations, with Wisconsin travel, destination, and event ideas, as well as the "County Connection" feature, which focuses this month on Lafayette County.

| August Adult Catechetical Courses Offered! - Tuesday, June 08, 2010 The Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute will be offering the following summer courses at the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center in Madison. All courses will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. with a Mass and lunch break from 12 noon until 1:00 pm. Each of the 3 courses is $10 each. Graduate credits will also be available through Edgewood College for an additional fee.

Tues. August 10 Intro. to Sacred Scripture (Continued) (DVD)
Wed. August 11 The Creed (Catechism Pillar I)

The down-time of summer is a great opportunity to take a class to learn Natural Family Planning (NFP). Summer class dates include:
Creighton Model (FertilityCare): Intro Sessions (choose one): June 7, June 15, July 12, Aug 2, Aug 17, 6:00pm, Bishop O'Connor Center (Madison)
Couple to Couple League (CCL): 3-Class series beginning Aug 27, 6:30-8:30pm, Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital (Prairie Du Sac)
Family of the Americas (Ovulation Method): Classes available on individually-scheduled basis
Online & Self-Directed Courses: Couple to Couple League, Northwest Family Services and Marquette Model

Natural Family Planning (NFP) opens up the channels of communication, respect and prayer in a marriage. As much as 74% of NFP users say they are satisfied with the method and the same group enjoys a dramatically low divorce rate of 0.2%. Certain NFP methods boast pregnancy-achievement rates of 98% after just six cycles for couples with normal fertility (and there is help for those with compromised fertility). Any allegation of sexual misconduct involving priests, deacons, or other Church personnel should be reported to the Diocese of Madison by use of the Sexual Misconduct Question and Reporting Line, 608-821-3162. This year’s convention is here in the Diocese of Madison! It has always been a family-centered gathering, with a full schedule of age-appropriate activities for the children along side a solid lineup of main talks and workshops for the adults.
