PROGRESS REPORT
(JANUARY - MARCH 2010)
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report covers activities, achievement, challenges of the Donkey Breeding Farm for the first quarter of 2010.
2.0 ACTIVITIES
2.1 Construction of Stores and pens
The construction of the donkey villa are still on the way however a fence have being constructed around the villas to prevent the donkeys from moving or scattering the Farm in the night this also serves to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the kraal.
2.2 Feeding
The donkeys are being allowed to graze freely during this period since no cultivation is being done in the dry season. However the donkeys are shepherded daily to prevent them destroying people properties, stolen or getting lost. The donkeys are also fed with supplements in the morning and evening. The supplementary feed includes Soya vines, rice bran, fig and fedebia branches or brows.
2.3 Health/Medical Care
A vertinary Officer visits the Farm twice every month and in emergency cases to handle medical issues.
2.4 Reproduction
One donkey had a miscarriage and a number of pregnancies have increase to six (6).
3.0 ACHEIVEMENTS
- Donkey Farm established and about 70 % complete
- Donkey farm stores and pens construction about 60 % complete
- 2 Labourers available to shepherd donkeys and to ensure security of the animals.
4.0 CHALLEGES
The major challenge that we have no equipment for storing drugs at the recommended temperatures and hence have not being able to store drugs and rely on drug dealers even on emergency cases.
- In complete housing is worry due to the approach of the rainy season.
