Human Concerns

Human Concerns Mission Statement

The Human Concerns Commission witnesses the Good News of the Gospel, in a spirit of love and compassion, as we serve our parish, our community and beyond. Through our outreach ministry we assess and help meet the spiritual, social, and economic needs of others by serving our brothers and sisters in a spirit of compassion and love.

HCC Funding Board

The Outreach Funding Review Board (OFRB), a sub-committee of the Human Concerns Council, asks for and reviews requests for funding from the service organizations with which St. Thomas Aquinas parish is affiliated. Funding recommendations are then forwarded to the Human Concerns Commission and Pastoral Council for approval.

Funds are budgeted annually on July 1 and are disbursed the following December and June. Adjustments to the budget may be necessary. Funds will be considered for specific purposes, rather than for general operating expenses.

HCC actions

The Human Concerns Commission

promotes involvement by parishioners of all ages in Commission activities and needs
reviews current activities annually and recommends changes, including new initiatives
supports education initiatives and publicity efforts for Human Concerns ministries
makes fiscal recommendations via an Outreach Funding Review Board
coordinates the activities of all Outreach Boards, Groups, Committees, and Projects
