Bereavement Ministry
Purpose: The purpose of the bereavement ministry is to provide spiritual support for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Bereavement Support: Parish members offer the care and concern of the parish community through notes and conversation. They seek to help the grieving remember that they are not alone in their journey to healing. Members pray for the dead and all those who mourn them.
Bereavement Series: The Westside Catholic parish communities and the Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish sponsor a Bereavement Ministry Series in the spring and fall. These sessions address the following topics:
- The process of grieving
- Understanding the terms of grief
- Surviving stress, loneliness and guilt
- Handling the holidays
- Children and grief
- The spiritual elements of grief
- The communion of saints
- Making memories and keeping memories
