Humanae Vitae, 40 years later
Two events coincide to establish our topic for this series of gatherings: July 25 marks the 40th anniversary of the encyclical Humanae Vitae, and in his February gatherings with us, Bishop Morlino called on us to work to “be on the same page” in our catechetical efforts. Why not jump in with both feet? There seems to be no more difficult place for us as humans – let alone as catechetical leaders – to “be on the same page” than in the area of sexuality, and Humanae Vitae has certainly been a lightning rod for that. None can deny its important place in the clash between the teachings of the Catholic Church and the sexual revolution. Continued on the "Regional Gatherings" page.
Reiki and the Catholic faith
Several people have recently called to ask about the practice of Reiki and whether it is compatible with the Catholic faith. Although some will object to such a classification, Reiki is basically a New Age spiritual practice. Catechists meet with Bishop Morlino
in February 2008 regional gatherings
Some 400 people, including most DREs, CREs, youth ministers and school principles, as well as many teachers and catechists, were able to attend at least one of the six regional gatherings with Bishop Morlino in February. He stated that his goal for these gatherings was to help all involved in the ministry of catechesis in the Diocese of Madison to “be on the same page,” and then he discussed several themes to clarify what he means by that.
