In addition to tuning in to keynote addresses, it is recommended that those who cannot attend the Congress in-person spiritually unite themselves to the intention and work of the Congress. Here are some ideas for how you can do so (taken from the National Catholic Register):
Attend Mass each day of the Congress (or make an Act of Spiritual Communion if you are unable to get to Mass)
Spend time in Adoration
Read Eucharistic passages from Scripture (the Bread of Life discourse, the Last Supper, and the Road to Emmaus, for example)
Word on Fire Ministries is encouraging Catholics to pray 10,000 Holy Hours in July in support of the National Eucharistic Revival! Learn more about this initiative HERE.
The National Eucharistic Revival is a three-year initiative, and there are lots of ways that you can deepen your understanding of and devotion to the Eucharist during this Revival period! Visit eucharisticrevival.org for resources such as videos, blog posts, and studies. Visit the Revival's YouTube channel for more content related to the Congress and the Revival!
Those who are not able to attend the Congress in-person but who can watch or listen are able to receive Pope Francis' apostolic blessing with a plenary indulgence!
Indulgences are "the remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven. The faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains the indulgence under prescribed conditions for either himself or the departed. Indulgences are granted through the ministry of the Church which, as the dispenser of the grace of redemption, distributes the treasury of the merits of Christ and the Saints.” (from the Catechism of the Catholic Church)
To receive this indulgence, those who are unable to join the Congress in-person should participate in Mass and receive the apostolic blessing through media communications. They should also meet the usual conditions for an indulgence:
Be truly repentant of their sins
Be motivated by charity
Go to sacramental confession as soon as possible
Receive Communion as soon as possible (if not able to at the indulgenced event)
